05.03.2020

The project named "Examining Parental Attitudes and Attribution Styles Perceived as Predictors of Academic Self-Efficacy and Creating an Academic Self-Efficacy-Focused Psycho-Education Program for University Students: A Mixed Method Research" and is supervised by Asst. Prof. Sevda SARI DEMİR was evaluated within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program and was entitled to receive support. The third-year student from Psychology Department Yurdanur BUDAK works as project coordinator, and a third-year student in our department Fatma CAN works as the project researcher. Project research is planned to be carried out between March and November 2020.
It is stated that the research consists of two stages. In the first stage, whether perceived parental attitudes and academic attribution styles predict university students' perceptions of academic self-efficacy (quantitative research); In the second stage, it is aimed to understand how low academic self-efficacy is experienced by university students (qualitative research). As a result of the quantitative findings and qualitative analyzes to be obtained from the research, it is planned to prepare a psycho-education program for low academic self-efficacy. With this program, it is aimed to increase the awareness of the factors that reduce academic self-efficacy, to identify dysfunctional attribution styles and coping methods, and to teach appropriate coping methods. Thus, it is stated that for the first time in Turkey, a psycho-education program based on teaching ways to cope with low academic self-efficacy will be prepared for the university sample.
